Kia Ora, we are Steve and Julie, we like to call ourselves ‘English Kiwis’ born in the UK, but New Zealand is now home. Or was until February 2015, when we took a massive leap out of our comfort zone. Getting rid of everything we owned, jumping off the corporate hamster wheel and choosing a life of long term travel. Travel filled with outdoor adventures, wildlife encounters, and the best nature has to offer.

Crazy to think that this is our 5th annual End of Year Review. We feel very blessed to lead the life that we have for the last half a decade.
So before we get knee-deep in 2020, we would like to take a moment or six to reflect on the past 12 months. Where have we been? What have we been up to? Our favourite memories? And at the same time have some fun, as usual, with some numbers.
Being knee-deep in port grapes has been a long-held dream that finally came true. We timed our visit to the Douro Valley in Portugal to coincide with the grape harvest and an experience of a life time.
We spend 24 hours in Portugal’s second-largest city, Porto and it’s younger sister on the other side of the Douro River, Vila Nova de Gaia. We search out what there is to see and do in this vibrant and historic city other than drink port. Now, of course, no visit to Porto would be complete without the odd glass or two of the famous fortified wine that takes its name from this beautiful country
